OBJECTIVE

The starter kit provides prompters for discussion between caregivers and child during digital play. The starter kit is a product from a research project that responds to the growing popularity of educational apps for young children in today’s digital age. Our goal is to develop resources for caregivers to design meaningful learning experiences when using educational apps for their child’s literacy development, values learning, and socioemotional wellbeing.

The learning experiences are inspired from the Learning by Design Framework developed by Professors Bill Cope and Mary Kalantzis from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, United States of America. The four knowledge processes in the Learning by Design Framework - Experiencing, Conceptualising, Analysing, and Applying - are adopted to organise the learning experiences.
