Session 1 - Experiencing/Situated Practice
Duration - 30 mins (Variable)

Can you tell me which is your favourite character?

Session 2 - Conceptualising/Overt Instruction
Duration - 30 mins (Variable)
During the second session, as children achieve a basic understanding of the story, parents can use recall to prompt children to tell a story:
Can you tell me about your favourite story?
Why do you think the character performed this action?

Session 3 - Analysing/Critical Framing
Duration - 30 mins (Variable)
During the third session, to develop children's critical thinking, parents can prompt children to predict the next part of the story:
What do you think will happen next in the story?
Why do you think that happened in the story?
Session 4 - Applying/Transformed Practice
Duration - 30 mins (Variable)
During the fourth session, to reinforce children's reading comprehension, parents may prompt children to perform the story:
Will you draw for me your favourite scene from the story?
Shall we perform the story together using our toys?
